Guangzhou Ocean World is a large, high-tech, multifunctional exhibition venue that integrates entertainment, sightseeing, scientific research, and education. Covering an area of approximately 13,000 square meters, the venue had a total investment of fifty million US dollars. By continuously introducing new marine animals, Guangzhou Ocean World has not only made its exhibits more novel and enriching, but also vigorously advanced the development of marine science outreach activities. It has been designated as a “National Science Education Base,” “Guangdong Marine Science Education Base,” and “Guangdong Youth Science Education Base.”

Guangzhou Ocean World features multiple areas that comprehensively showcase the underwater world, including: the Ocean Theatre, Relief Square, Underwater Tunnel, Deep Sea Landscape, Seaweed Columns, Treasure Windows, Freshwater World, Rocky Shore, Touch Pool, Turtle Pool, Penguin House, Shark Hall, Marine Science Exhibition Hall, Ocean Theatre, and Sea Lion Playground. These display areas are distinctive and vividly realistic. Upon entering the Ocean World, begin your journey through the Underwater Tunnel. Take the gently sloped escalator down, and you’ll immediately feel a sudden drop in temperature and the lights dimming to a deep blue — as if you’ve entered the ocean depths. A 35-centimeter-thick transparent acrylic glass dome separates you from the seawater. Accompanied by music simulating marine life sounds, look up to see colorful fish leisurely swimming among the coral, some even locking eyes with you just a few centimeters away.

Exiting the Underwater Tunnel, you’ll be greeted by a two-story-high giant transparent cylindrical tank, adorned with incredibly lifelike large seaweed. Soft lighting illuminates the gentle green ribbons that float ethereally, as if someone had spread out wide sleeves in dance or left behind flowing sashes. Dozens of surgeonfish and triggerfish dart among the seaweed, their serene demeanor making it hard to resist stopping to admire. The most captivating attraction is the “Deep Sea Landscape,” which reaches a depth of 10 meters and holds 1,100 cubic meters of water. This area is a microcosm of the ocean floor, showcasing a dazzling array of colorful corals in full splendor, leaving you mesmerized.
