The Site of the Third National Congress of the Communist Party of China is a national AAA-level tourist attraction, a major historical and cultural site protected at the national level, a classic red tourism destination, and a base for patriotic education.

The Memorial Museum of the Site of the Third National Congress of the Communist Party of China is located at No. 3 Xuguyuan Road, Yuexiu District, Guangzhou. From June 12 to 20, 1923, the Third National Congress of the Communist Party of China was held in Guangzhou. It remains the only national congress of significant historical importance convened by the Party in Guangzhou to date and had a huge impact on the Chinese revolution. In 1979, the site was listed as a key cultural relics protection unit of Guangdong Province. It was officially restored and opened to the public on July 1, 2006.

The original site of the Third National Congress was a typical two-story old-style Guangzhou residence with a gable-and-hip roof, featuring two interconnected rooms per floor and constructed with brick and wood. It also had a covered corridor, characteristic of traditional architecture with arcades. However, the building was destroyed by Japanese aircraft bombing during the War of Resistance against Japan. After reconstruction, the new memorial museum consists of one basement level and two above-ground floors, all dedicated to exhibition spaces. The original No. 5 building serves as a temporary exhibition hall for displays related to the history of the Communist Party of China. The No. 5 building and the new museum are connected by a two-story corridor.

In 1923, the Communist Party of China held its Third National Congress in Guangzhou, where it formally decided to cooperate with the Kuomintang led by Sun Yat-sen and establish a revolutionary united front. The meeting defined the guidelines for cooperation: Communists would join the Kuomintang as individuals while maintaining the political, ideological, and organizational independence of the Communist Party; and they would help reorganize the Kuomintang into a party representing a coalition of the working class, the peasantry, the urban petty bourgeoisie, and the national bourgeoisie.

The Third National Congress established the policy of cooperation between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party, and the Fourth National Congress later raised the issues of proletarian leadership in the democratic revolution and the worker-peasant alliance. This led to rapid development of the Communist organization, created favorable conditions for large-scale training of revolutionary cadres, promoted a surge in mass movements among workers and peasants, and laid the foundation for unifying Guangdong, launching the Northern Expedition, and expanding the national revolution from Guangdong to the rest of the country.

In May 2013, the Site of the Third National Congress of the Communist Party of China was announced as part of the seventh group of Major Historical and Cultural Sites Protected at the National Level.
