Guangzhou Lin Zexu Memorial Park is located on the west side of Haiyin Bridge along Yuexiu District’s Yanjiang East Road. The entire memorial park covers an area of 25,000 square meters, and together with Dongshan Lake South Square (7,000 square meters) and the green space on the east side of Haiyin Bridge’s approach ramp (4,800 square meters), it forms the Yanjiang East Road Greening Plaza. The completion of Lin Zexu Memorial Park, along with the surrounding parks and green spaces, creates the largest green belt along the Pearl River.

Lin Zexu Memorial Park was reconstructed from the former Haiyin Plaza. Through artistic elements such as a statue of Lin Zexu, relief walls, scene sculptures, and a battery, the park presents themes including "Opium Destruction at Jinghai Gate," "Opening Eyes to the World," "Bravely Defending the Nation," and "Poetic Refinement." It showcases the image of an outstanding hero who was both scholarly and martial, deeply concerned about his country and people, full of emotion and integrity, morally noble, and endowed with the grace of a literary master. Additionally, the park features public fitness areas and leisure walkways, integrating it into the daily lives of local residents.

There are two relief walls in the park: one themed on "Opium Destruction at Jinghai Gate" and the other on "Bravely Defending the Nation." The scene "Opium Destruction at Jinghai Gate" depicts the heroic feat carried out by Lin Zexu in July and August of 1839, when he conducted three large-scale public destructions of opium and smoking paraphernalia at the East Battery outside Jinghai Gate in Guangzhou (now near Dongshan Lake Park), highlighting this significant historical achievement. This memorial park was built based on this historical event. The other relief, "Bravely Defending the Nation," showcases Lin Zexu’s fearless spirit and resolute resistance during the Opium War.

Not far from the reliefs stands a bust of Lin Zexu themed "Opening Eyes to the World." The main gate of the memorial park features a memorial archway inscribed with two famous quotes by Lin Zexu: “If it benefits the nation, I will risk life and death; why avoid trouble or seek fortune?” These words honor his patriotic spirit.

In addition to sculptures depicting Lin Zexu, the park also retains the recreational and fitness facilities from the original Haiyin Plaza. The park offers various exercise equipment, resting shelters, activity plazas, and leisure walkways. The entire park is open to the public, allowing free access. In terms of landscaping, the park preserves the original large trees while incorporating native species such as banyan, albizia, Bauhinia, frangipani, and michelia, complemented by blooming shrubs and ground cover. Leveraging the undulating terrain, the design creates a richly varied, open-and-closed landscape. The resulting park is distinctive in theme, fragrant with blossoms, and attracts many visitors for sightseeing and leisure.
