The Guangdong Revolutionary History Museum (Guangzhou Modern History Museum) is a classic red tourism destination and a patriotic education base.
The Guangdong Revolutionary History Museum and the Guangzhou Modern History Museum are located within the Martyrs' Cemetery at No. 2 Lingyuan West Road, Yuexiu District, Guangzhou. The museum site was originally the Guangdong Advisory Bureau, established in 1909 and situated outside the Dadao Gate. It first opened to the public on October 1, 1959. The Guangzhou Modern History Museum is a branch of the Guangdong Revolutionary History Museum.

The museum consists of three parts: the main building, a lotus pond, and a stone bridge. The main building covers an area of 2,500 square meters, has two floors, and is a Western Roman-style parliamentary structure made of brick, wood, and steel beams and columns. The entrance features an arched portico with four imitation Gothic columns in the center. In 1998, the original gate on Zhongshan Third Road was demolished, and access to the museum is now only through the main entrance of the Martyrs' Cemetery.
The museum currently houses a collection of over 13,000 cultural relics and documents, along with more than 13,000 historical photographs. Among the particularly precious items are two slogans from the 1927 Guangzhou Uprising bearing the inscription “Assembly of Guangdong Workers, Peasants, and Soldiers Supporting the Soviet Government”: “Down with Imperialism” and “Workers, Peasants, and Soldiers Rise Up, Support the Soviet Government,” as well as a compass, pocket watch, and teaching materials used at the time — including the “Training Materials Volume II” used by the Guangdong District Committee of the CPC for party school courses, the graduation certificate of Pan Xueyin, a graduate of the first class of the Whampoa Military Academy, a leather suitcase used by Chen Yi during his leadership of guerrilla warfare in northern Guangdong, a legendary artillery piece used by the Fourth Field Army of the Chinese People's Liberation Army in its advance from northeastern China to Hainan Island, and a banner inscribed “Intimidating the Enemy.”
The museum’s exhibition “A Chronicle of the Guangdong People’s Revolutionary Struggles” systematically presents the history of the Guangdong people’s courageous fight for national independence and the founding of New China during the period from the Opium Wars to the liberation of the entire country, featuring over 1,300 cultural relics, documents, photographs, charts, and related materials.
