Guangzhou City God Temple is a municipal cultural relics protection unit of Guangzhou.

It enshrines Liu Yan, Hai Rui, and Yang Jiaoshan. The lacquer murals in the main hall are worth seeing, and the Guangfu Temple Fair is also held here.

Also called the Provincial City God Temple, Guangzhou City God Temple is located next to the Museum of the Nanyue King’s Palace. It was first built in the third year of the Hongwu era during the Ming Dynasty (1370) and was the largest city god temple in Lingnan during the Ming and Qing periods. What you see today is the part rebuilt during the Qing Dynasty—only the main hall and the worship pavilion remain. It is a municipal-level cultural relics protection unit of Guangzhou and has only been open to the public for free in recent years.

In the main hall of the temple, three City Gods are worshipped: Liu Yan, founder of the Southern Han Kingdom, along with the famous Hai Rui and Yang Jisheng, who are believed to protect the local area. The main hall features a massive 240-square-meter lacquer mural titled "The Creation of Heaven and Earth · Scroll of Immortals," which depicts 132 deities including Pangu, Nuwa, Guanyin, the Jade Emperor, and the Dragon Kings of the Four Seas. This rare artwork is definitely not to be missed.

Additionally, the annual Guangfu Temple Fair is held here during the Lantern Festival, attracting large crowds and offering a particularly lively atmosphere.
