Wendelou

Wendelou is a Guangzhou Municipal Cultural Relics Protection Unit and a classic red tourism attraction.

Wendelou is located in Wende Li, Wende East Road, Guangzhou. It consists of five three-story buildings of the same style connected together, collectively called Wendelou. In the autumn of 1925, Zhou Enlai and Deng Yingchao lived on the second floor of No. 3, Li Fuchun and Cai Chang on the second floor of No. 1, and Li Zhilong, captain of the Zhongshan Warship, among others, on the second floor of No. 4.

The second floor of No. 3 has one living room and three bedrooms, measuring 4 meters in width and 10 meters in depth, with a total area of 40 square meters. At that time, the living room was simply furnished with two ordinary sofas, a tea table, a tea stand, and a square dining table. The bedrooms were partitioned by screens: Zhou and Deng stayed in the front room, which, besides a bed, several chairs, and a desk, also had two boxes of clothes and two boxes of books. Deng Yingchao’s mother, Madam Yang, lived in the middle room, while the maid stayed in the back room.

In early 1926, Zhou Enlai and Deng Yingchao moved to the second floor of the Nanhua Bank building on Wanfu Road along with the Military Affairs Commission of the Guangdong District Committee of the Communist Party of China. Currently, apart from the iron gate at the alley entrance, the plaque, and some updated parts that have been removed, the rest of Wendelou remains well preserved.

In 1999, the Guangzhou Municipal People's Government designated it as a cultural relics protection unit.
