The former residence of Hong Xian-Nu is located at No. 20, You'ai Road, Overseas Chinese New Village, Guangzhou.

Hong Xian-Nu was a model artist of both moral integrity and artistic excellence. She loved her country, her people, and the Communist Party of China. The Hong School of art she founded represents the highest achievement in the female lead roles of Cantonese opera. Throughout her life, Hong rooted her art in the people and sang for them. She was a beloved people’s artist, a master of Cantonese opera, and a symbol of the art form.

The former residence primarily displays its original appearance, supplemented by multimedia facilities, allowing visitors to gain a multifaceted understanding of the artistic life of this master.

The entire residence consists of a two-and-a-half-story building and a garden. Since returning to China in the 1950s, this place became Hong Xian-Nu’s space for creation, vocal practice, calligraphy and painting, as well as for discussing art with friends, exploring vocal techniques with students, and sharing everyday life with family. Walking through the home, every detail reflects Hong’s delicate emotions and captures the brilliance and insights of her life.
