Former Site of the Executive Committee of the Guangdong District of the Communist Party of China

The Former Site of the Executive Committee of the Guangdong District of the Communist Party of China is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit and a classic red tourism destination.

The Former Site of the Executive Committee of the Guangdong District of the Communist Party of China is a three-story building with a total area of approximately 700 square meters. It was the location of the Executive Committee of the Guangdong District of the Communist Party of China during the Great Revolution period. The Guangdong District Committee was one of the earliest local district committees established by the Communist Party of China, with jurisdiction covering Guangdong, Guangxi, southern Fujian, Hong Kong, Yunnan, Guizhou, as well as Hainan and even extending into Southeast Asia, making it the largest district committee at the time.

In October 1924, Zhou Enlai returned to China and took up the position of District Committee Director, and in February 1925, Chen Yannian became the Secretary. The District Committee included departments such as Organization, Propaganda, Workers, Peasants, Military Affairs, Women, a Supervisory Committee, and a Secretariat. During that time, veteran proletarian revolutionaries and pioneers of the revolution such as Chen Yannian, Zhou Enlai, and Peng Pai worked here, leading the people of Guangdong in revolutionary struggles. The first floor housed four shops—a traditional Chinese medicine store, a grocery store, a shoe store, and a snack shop—as a cover for the District Committee’s activities.

In the first half of 1925, a Supervisory Committee was specifically established here, becoming the first local disciplinary inspection body set up by the Communist Party of China and pioneering the Party's disciplinary inspection work.

In 2019, it was designated and announced by the State Council as part of the eighth batch of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units.
