Guangxiao Church

Guangxiao Church is a Guangzhou Municipal Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

Guangzhou Christian Guangxiao Church is located in the central urban area of Guangzhou, adjacent to the metro, offering convenient transportation. It is currently one of the largest Christian churches in Guangzhou. In January 2009, it was designated as a “Guangzhou Municipal Cultural Relics Protection Unit” by the Guangzhou Municipal Government. Its history dates back to the 1880s.

The architecture of Guangxiao Church features a Gothic style that combines Chinese and Western elements, and its facade resembles that of Notre-Dame de Paris. Facing east and situated to the west, the church covers a total area of 1,470 square meters, with a five-story structure that stands 26.7 meters high, 35 meters long, and 23 meters wide. The main hall is spacious and can accommodate nearly 1,000 worshippers. On the third floor, there is a large rose-shaped stained-glass window in the center of the front facade, with a diameter of about 5 meters. Bell towers in the shape of pagodas stand on the southern and northern sides, adorned with glazed tiles on their tops and surroundings. The entire church presents a solemn, majestic, and magnificent appearance.
