Guangzhou Yuzhang Academy

Guangzhou Yuzhang Academy is a protected cultural heritage site of Guangzhou.

Guangzhou Yuzhang Academy, also known as the Luo Family Ancestral Hall, was built in 1893. It derives its name from the fact that the ancestors of the Luo clan hailed from the ancient Yuzhang Commandery in Jiangxi Province. In July 1924, the Chinese Communist Party led over 3,000 Chinese workers on strike in the Shamian concession, and the headquarters for the movement was located at Yuzhang Academy. Today, the academy serves as the library of Guangzhou’s Changdi Zhenguang Middle School, still retaining the traditional architectural features of the historic building.

In July 2002, it was designated as part of the sixth batch of protected cultural heritage sites of Guangzhou.
