Tomb of the Four Martyrs

The Tomb of the Four Martyrs is a cultural relic protection unit of Guangzhou City.

The Tomb of the Four Martyrs at Honghua Hill is located on the eastern side inside the main gate of the Guangzhou Martyrs' Cemetery at No. 92, Zhongshan 2nd Road, Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province (formerly known as Honghua Hill). It is a joint burial tomb. The tomb path faces west, in front of which stands a stone memorial archway with four pillars and three gates. The horizontal beam of the archway is inscribed with seven seal characters reading “Tomb of the Four Martyrs at Honghua Hill.” Behind the archway is a platform, and directly opposite the archway on the eastern side stands a stele titled “Stele of the Four Martyrs at Honghua Hill,” which records the historical fact of the four martyrs of the Xinhai Revolution who bravely sacrificed their lives for the revolution. To the north of the platform is a stone stairway leading up to the tomb. The tomb faces south and is built in a circular shape with a concrete structure, measuring 9.3 meters in width and 3.2 meters in height. In front of the tomb is a granite sacrificial altar, sized 2.45 x 0.76 x 0.62 meters. The tombstone is inscribed with “Tomb of Martyrs Wen Shengcai, Chen Jingyue, Lin Guanci, and Zhong Mingguang.” On the eastern and western sides of the tomb, there is one pavilion each. These hexagonal pavilions have glazed tile roofs and are constructed with reinforced concrete. Each pavilion is nearly 8 meters high, creating a solemn and respectful atmosphere.
