Mission Hills Tourist Resort is a National AAAAA-level tourist attraction.

Mission Hills, located in Guanlan Town, Shenzhen. Actually, there’s no lake at Mission Hills—it’s the Mission Hills Golf Club that spans both Shenzhen and Dongguan.

Mission Hills is wholly invested in and operated by the Junhao Group. The entire project spans the cities of Shenzhen and Dongguan and consists of the Mission Hills Shenzhen cluster, Mission Hills Dongguan cluster, and Mission Hills Ligang cluster. The development began in 1992, with cumulative investments exceeding HK$10 billion, resulting in an international leisure tourism resort integrating seven major functions: sports & leisure, business & leisure, wellness & leisure, conference tourism, cultural entertainment, gourmet shopping, and short/long-stay retreats. These include: the world’s largest Mission Hills Golf Club, Asia’s largest tennis country club, multiple hotels, international clubs, an international convention center, an ecological recreation park, as well as a wealth of sports, dining, entertainment, and recreational facilities. As early as 2001, the Mission Hills leisure tourism resort was rated as one of the first batch of National 4A-level tourist attractions by the China National Tourism Administration. Since the launch of new 5A-level standards in 2007, Mission Hills has been involved in the creation of a 5A-level attraction since early 2009. During this period, the National Tourism Attractions Quality Rating Committee conducted multiple on-site inspections to evaluate Mission Hills’ service quality, environmental quality, and landscape quality. On May 13, 2011, Mission Hills was officially designated as a National 5A-level Tourist Attraction. On May 25, the National Tourism Administration held an award ceremony in Beijing. Currently, Guangdong Province has a total of five 5A-level tourist attractions.

It is reported that 1.8 million domestic and international visitors come to Mission Hills every year, including approximately 1.2 million overseas tourists, mainly from North America, Europe, Southeast Asia, Japan, South Korea, as well as Taiwan, Macau, and Hong Kong of China, accounting for about 70% of the total number of visitors to Mission Hills.

As a tourism project in Guangdong, a frontier province of China’s reform and opening-up, Mission Hills has created an international tourist destination highlighted by vacation and leisure. It fully aligns with the fastest-growing trend in the future global tourism market—themed leisure tourism—and attracts visitors from home and abroad. In the new era where China’s tourism industry is actively shifting from quantity-scale to quality-benefit models, and where tourism products are transitioning from sightseeing to leisure vacations, Mission Hills, with its focus on themed leisure tourism, has set a new example for China’s 5A-level scenic spots.

It is understood that the highlights of the Mission Hills leisure tourism resort mainly include: sports and leisure centered around golf and outdoor aerobic activities. The sports and leisure facilities, represented by golf, boast 12 international-standard courses, making it the world’s largest golf leisure destination that uniquely gathers the styles of golf courses from all five continents. Wellness and leisure centered around health and spa treatments; business and leisure centered around conferences and business travel; event tourism led by international competitions. To date, Mission Hills has introduced and hosted over a hundred events including golf, tennis, billiards, and cycling competitions, as well as economic, sports, and cultural exchange activities. It has also hosted numerous visits by international celebrities, leveraging the tourism project to build a renowned international exchange platform both in China and abroad.

In addition, Mission Hills places great emphasis on sustainable development and environmental protection, having carried out the beneficial practice of “turning barren hills into precious land” for many years. Despite lacking natural tourism resources, it has created a beautiful green ecological environment. Now, 13 square kilometers of green ecological resources have been developed here. In November 2005, the entire area of the Mission Hills Shenzhen cluster was listed as a permanent ecological control reserve zone in Shenzhen, and it is also the only example in Shenzhen where an ecological reserve zone has been formed through corporate ecological development.
