Honggor Petroglyphs

Introduction Located in Sonid Left Banner, these petroglyphs date back four to five thousand years and serve as valuable historical material for studying the history of northern nomadic peoples in China. According to experts, these over 600 ancient petroglyphs were created by northern nomadic tribes in ancient times. Amid their monotonous daily activities such as herding and hunting, they recorded scenes of life on stone surfaces. Though the lines are simple and the compositions crude, the images are vivid and distinctive, holding an important place in the history of world rock art.
