Ancient Huahua Temple It’s about 4 kilometers from the gas station (No. 2 Middle School of Dabian Road) beside National Highway 107 in Dabian Road Town to the Ancient Huahua Temple. This is a small cement road that goes entirely uphill, featuring many turns and steep slopes. The temple was rebuilt in 2001 with fundraising led by the elderly bhikkhuni Venerable Shi Jianwei. It now has facilities such as the Mahavira Hall, Skanda Hall, Maitreya Hall, Bell Tower, Guest Hall, monastic quarters, and Buddha statues. There are currently four monastics residing at the temple, with Venerable Shi Chide as the abbess. Ancient Huahua Temple has become a place of worship for Buddhists in and around Lianzhou. The temple complex is built along the mountainside, with the Mahavira Hall being grand and majestic. The Maitreya Hall, Bell Tower, and Guest Hall feature yellow walls and green tiles. As a nunnery, the Ancient Huahua Temple does not charge an entrance fee. Perhaps due to its secluded mountain location, it sees few visitors—mostly family groups (with a higher proportion of female travelers) who come to pray and fulfill vows.
