Fushan Tourist Scenic Area

Fushan Tourist Scenic Area is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

Fushan is located in Bao’an Town, 20 kilometers north of Lianzhou City. It is recognized as the 49th of the Taoist “Seventy-Two Blessed Lands of the World,” holding significant religious importance. Fushan is also one of the Eight Scenic Spots of ancient Lianzhou and was referred to by Southern Song scholar Zhang Shi as the “Tranquil Fushan Cold Grove.” Fushan boasts eight scenic highlights: “Heavenly Path Nurturing Beauty,” “Fushan Character and Rippling Waters,” “Streams and Wells Intersecting,” “Twin Literary Peaks Standing Majestically,” “Peaceful Pool Reflecting the Moon,” “Spring Source Subduing the Tiger,” “Immortal’s Golden Palm,” and “Jade Trees Glowing at Night.” It enjoys great local renown but receives relatively few tourists from outside the area, which makes it quite serene.

Surrounded by mountains on three sides, historical records describe it as having “three peaks that are sharp and elegant, standing 130 zhang high, embraced by ridges and peaks, with lush pines and cypresses.” Ancient trees tower everywhere, making it an ideal summer retreat. The town of Bao’an, where the temples are located, hosts a folk custom on Chongyang Festival called “Carrying the Great Deity,” in which a revered local figure (referred to as the “Great Deity”) is paraded through the streets to ward off evil and usher in good fortune—a cherished local tradition.

Bao’an Town: A town under the jurisdiction of Lianzhou City. Before liberation, it was the First District of Lian County. In 1950, it was established as Bao’an Township, reorganized into a commune in 1958, became a district in 1983, and was upgraded to a town in 1986. Located in the central-western part of the city, it is 19 kilometers from the municipal government. Covering an area of 144.3 square kilometers with a population of 33,000, National Highway 107 passes through the town, along with Provincial Road 1953 and Municipal Road Xin (Tang)–Lao (Yachong).
