Lianzhou Zhongshan Park
In 1930, Ye Rishong, the magistrate of Lian County (now Lianzhou City), converted the Confucian Temple into "Zhongshan Park." Of the original structures, only the Dacheng Hall, Liexiu Pavilion, and Jingyi Pavilion were preserved, while all others were demolished. The Dacheng Hall, also known as the "Confucius Temple," is one of Lianzhou’s early ancient buildings. It features exquisite design and a majestic presence. The hall has four sloping roof surfaces, one central ridge (flat ridge), and four diagonal ridges. The roof corners and eaves curl upwards, and the roof has a slightly curved shape. Thick wooden pillars support the beam frame, giving the structure a tight and stable composition with gently sloped pitches. The claws on the flat beams are very slender, and the load on the ridge is transmitted through bracket arms, representing a traditional form of Chinese architecture. The hall houses a large number of wood carvings and stone engravings that hold significant research value—these artifacts have been preserved since the Ming Dynasty, having undergone repairs over more than 500 years. In 1933, a "People's Education Hall" was established here. In the early 1960s, the Lian County Youth Cultural Palace was also located here. Between 1966 and 1976, parts of the Dacheng Hall were demolished by some individuals and no longer exist today. Lianzhou Zhongshan Park covers an area of 8,500 square meters. Since the 1980s, Liexiu Pavilion and Jingyi Pavilion have been gradually restored, and various facilities have been selectively added in a planned manner to complement the surrounding environment—enhancing the park’s elegant and picturesque scenery while maintaining its tranquil ambiance.
