Lianzhou Jinshi Pavilion

Lianzhou Jinshi Pavilion is a cultural relic protection unit of Lianzhou City.

Lianzhou Jinshi Pavilion is located in Chongkou Village, Xi’an Town, Lianzhou City. It was built in the 48th year of the Qianlong reign during the Qing Dynasty (1783) to commemorate Chen Quan and Chen Zhu, two brothers from the village who both passed the imperial examination and became jinshi (advanced scholars) during the Huangyou era of the Northern Song Dynasty. The pavilion was erected to inspire future generations of scholars. The structure is a wooden building with a double-eaved hip-and-gable roof, featuring a 12-pillar through-tenon beam frame. It stands 5.2 meters tall and covers an area of 63 square meters, with the ridge plaque inscribed with “Constructed on the 18th day of the autumn season in the 48th year of the Qianlong reign, the Year of Gui Mao, during the Great Qing Dynasty.” Behind the pavilion stands the Chen Family Ancestral Hall, which serves as the family temple for the Chen clan of the village and also enshrines the two brothers. This hall is built in a traditional brick-and-wood structure style, with a three-courtyard layout and a flush-gable roof. It was renovated in the 5th year of the Guangxu reign (1879).

In 1981, the Lian County People’s Government designated it as a county-level cultural relic protection unit.
