The Caixi Forum

The Caixi Forum is located next to Nanhua Temple in Qujiang District, Shaoguan City. Its foundation was laid in July 2011. Covering an area of approximately 80 acres with a built-up area of about 30,000 square meters, it features architecture styled after the Tang Dynasty. Entering through the mountain gate of the Caixi Forum and into the inner courtyard, you will be greeted by the grand main lecture hall dedicated to the Platform Sutra of the Sixth Patriarch. The main lecture hall has a construction area divided into upper and lower floors, housing facilities such as calligraphy and painting rooms, conference halls, multi-functional halls, and reception rooms.

On the inner walls of the main lecture hall are nine large and exquisitely carved relief sculptures. These were meticulously crafted from Fujian’s blue hemp stone by master artisans, depicting the life of the Sixth Patriarch Huineng, as well as stories of his preaching, teaching, and acts of kindness.

Behind the main lecture hall of the Platform Sutra of the Sixth Patriarch lies the Ancestral Masters Hall. In front of the hall stands a Sukhothai Buddha statue gifted by Thai monks. Inside the hall are enshrined golden statues of the Sixth Patriarch and his four attendants: Shen Hui, Huairang, Fahai, and Xingsi.

On the east and west sides of the inner courtyard of the Caixi Forum, there are also cultural corridors. The corridors feature 132 stone steles inscribed with the Platform Sutra of the Sixth Patriarch and stories about the Sixth Patriarch written by cultural figures from various dynasties since the Tang Dynasty.
