Qujiang Immortal Tower

The Qujiang Immortal Tower is a cultural heritage site protected at the Guangdong Provincial level.

The Northern Song Dynasty Qujiang Immortal Tower is located on Sheling in Xintang, Datang Town, Qujiang County. Built during the Northern Song Dynasty, the tower has an octagonal floor plan and appears to have seven stories from the outside. It is a through-penetrating, balcony-wrapped pavilion-style brick pagoda, though only six stories remain today, with a remaining height of 21.15 meters. Each story has two doorways, and both the interior and exterior of each level feature niches. The body of the tower is constructed with projecting corner pillars, engaged columns, and architraves in brick on each face, with bracket sets (dougong) placed atop the architraves. Each elevation is divided into three bays. The eaves and balcony are formed by alternating layers of projecting bricks and sawtooth-pattern bricks. The entire tower is built from blue bricks and sealed with yellow clay mortar. The first story has sides that are 2.75 meters long, with walls 2.35 meters thick; the dimensions decrease progressively with each higher level.

In December 1979, it was designated as a cultural heritage site by the Guangdong Provincial Revolutionary Committee.

The town has abundant land resources, including 41,000 mu of arable land and 13,000 hectares of mountainous terrain, with a forest coverage rate of 74%.
