Dayantang Cave Site
The Dayantang Cave Site is a cultural heritage site protected by Qujiang County.
The Dayantang Cave Site is located within a limestone karst cave behind Qimashi Village in Fengwan Town, Qujiang County. It dates back to the Late Paleolithic Age. The mountain where the site is situated has four caves, with artifacts and fossils discovered in the second-level cave. Caves 1 and 2 yielded abundant fossils, while Cave 3 produced chipped stone tools and the fossil of a bovine incisor. Fossils unearthed from the three caves include those of bears, rhinoceroses, monkeys, deer, pigs, goats, porcupines, saber-toothed tigers, and macaques.
In 1984, the People’s Government of Qujiang County designated it as a cultural heritage site.
