Shixia Village Tomb

The Shixia Village Tomb is a cultural tourism attraction.

The Shixia Village Tomb is located behind Shixia Village in Longgui Town, Qujiang County. It was excavated in 1982. The tomb is a rectangular, vaulted, twin-chamber brick structure oriented at 90 degrees. It measures 4.14 meters in length and 1.7 meters in width. A partition wall divides the tomb into two chambers. The right wall of the left chamber features a niche, and near the sealed entrance inside the tomb lies a horizontal brick resembling an offering table. The tomb floor is paved with “herringbone”-patterned bricks.

This tomb is a joint burial site for a couple. Burial objects are placed separately in the front sections of the two chambers. The left chamber contains 15 items, including four-eared jars, large bowls, small bowls, silver hairpins, silver rings, and soapstone pigs; the right chamber holds 14 items, including four-eared jars, large bowls, small bowls, a bronze mirror, and soapstone pigs. The pottery items are all coated with celadon glaze. The four-eared jars have tall, slightly bulging bodies with a faintly cinched waist, displaying a typical style of the Southern Dynasties period.
