Daban Forest Park

Daban Forest Park is situated on the vast Balin Grassland, on the north bank of the Xar Moron River, an important tributary of the upper West Liao River, and at the southeastern foot of the southern section of the Greater Khingan Mountains. Its geographical coordinates are 118°35′ east longitude and 48°21′ north latitude, covering a total area of 28,000 hectares, with an elevation of around 500 meters. The park features a vast expanse and numerous attractions, stretching over 40 kilometers from the banks of the Xar Moron River to Daban, the seat of the Balin Right Banner People's Government. The scenic area encompasses mountains, rivers, plains, and sandy land. The highest peak is Bayanhan Mountain, which stands at 1,451 meters above sea level, characterized by rugged terrain and dense forests. Approved in 1997 as a forest park at the autonomous region level of Inner Mongolia, subsequent increased investment has led to the development and protection of the park environment. The number of sightseeing spots has grown, significantly enhancing the park’s scenic appeal and influence, attracting tens of thousands of visitors from across the country.

Major scenic areas include the Balin Bridge Manor-style Sandy Woodland Scenic Area, the Bayanhan Mountain Natural Forest Scenic Area, and the Daban Famous Trees and Flower Garden Scenic Area. The Balin Bridge Manor-style Sandy Woodland Scenic Area spans over 3,000 hectares, featuring key attractions such as the Qing Princess Bridge Ruins, Ox Egg Mountain, Mend Obo, Turtle Stone Mountain, Hulete Lake, and the manor-like scenery of sparse woodlands and meadows. Major rivers in the area include the Xar Moron River and the Chagan Moron River, with flat riverbanks, lush water and grass, distinct seasons, a pleasant climate, and high effective accumulated temperature, making it highly suitable for the growth of vegetation.
