Hadayingge Kiln Site

Located within Hadayingge Sumu in Bairin Left Banner, it is one of the important kiln sites near the former Liao Dynasty capital of Shangjing. It measures approximately 100 meters in both length and width. The kiln chambers were built with refractory bricks, and the surface is scattered with dense ceramic fragments, with accumulations over 1 meter thick. Discovered kiln tools include saggars, tripod-shaped spacers, pads, and ring pads. This kiln mainly produced coarse pottery with thick, rough bodies and glazes mostly in gray or brown tones, characterized by their hardness. Black-glazed items were primarily jars and pots, along with bowls, pitchers, basins, and cups. Tea-dust glazed items included mainly ox-leg bottles, jars, and pots. In addition, there were also ceramic animal toys such as horses, cattle, sheep, camels, and dogs.
