Sai Mountain Nature Reserve

Established in 1962, Sai Mountain Nature Reserve covers an area of 52 square kilometers and is located northeast of Accra, about 50 kilometers from the city. The reserve features five continuous mountain ranges, with the highest peak reaching up to 290 meters.

The reserve was created to safeguard the wildlife in this area. Its climate is highly conducive to the growth and reproduction of flora and fauna. Currently, Sai Mountain Nature Reserve is home to 175 species of birds, 31 species of mammals, and 13 species of reptiles. Mammals found here include African waterbuck, duikers, grey duikers, genets, olive baboons, green vervet monkeys, and white-nosed monkeys. The reserve is lush with trees and dotted with streams, where animals coexist harmoniously.

Visitors can buy bananas before entering the reserve to feed the monkeys. These monkeys are gentle and interact well with people. Those interested can also hike to the mountaintop to enjoy the sweeping natural scenery of the reserve.
