Attraction Introduction

The "Black Church" is a nationally renowned historic building and the largest Catholic church in the Transylvanian region. Built in the 14th–15th centuries, it features late Gothic architectural style. In 1689, it was destroyed by fire, and the stone walls were blackened by smoke.

After reconstruction, the exterior walls remained black, which is how the church got its name. Inside the church are a collection of ancient oriental tapestries and a large pipe organ built in the second half of the 19th century, which is still functional today.
