Prahova Valley

The Prahova Valley is a valley through which the Prahova River flows between the Bucegi and Baiu Mountains, located among the Romanian Carpathian Mountains. It is a famous tourist destination in Romania, situated about 100 kilometers north of the country’s capital, Bucharest. Geographically speaking, the Prahova River marks the boundary between the eastern and southern halves of the Carpathian Mountains. The Prahova Valley is striving to become a venue for the 2022 Winter Olympics and features six main resort areas.

Boasting a variety of ski runs, Prahova awaits skiing enthusiasts. The range of sporting opportunities here becomes more diverse each year, making it the most developed mountainous region in Romania. The resorts in this valley offer ski runs of varying difficulty, from beginner slopes to those suitable for competitions. Among these resorts, Sinaia features the highest-altitude ski runs (reaching 2,000 meters above sea level). Sinaia has a total of 8 ski runs of different levels, with the eastern slope of Mount Bucegi offering some of the most challenging and spectacular slopes in the Prahova Valley. As one of the major resorts in the Prahova Valley, Predeal has 5 ski runs, totaling approximately 7.2 kilometers in length. These runs are served by 4-seat chairlifts and gondola lifts at four different locations.
