Constanța is located in the Dobruja region on the western coast of the Black Sea. It is the capital and largest city of Constanța County in Romania, as well as the terminus of the canal connecting the Black Sea and the Danube. The city is the oldest continuously inhabited city in Romania and the country’s fifth-largest. Its port, the Port of Constanța, is the largest on the Black Sea and one of the largest in Europe.

As one of Romania’s largest cities, Constanța is an important cultural and economic hub and a key tourist destination along the coast. Outdoor restaurants, clubs, and bars offer entertainment for visitors. In addition, traditional villages, endless vineyards, and ancient ruins are not to be missed. The Orthodox Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul, built in 1883–1885 in Greco-Romanian style, was heavily damaged during World War II and restored in 1951. The Genoese Lighthouse, standing 7.9 meters tall and built in 1860, is a notable historical landmark in the city. Other sights include majestic mosques, expansive squares, and the famous casino.
