The oldest church in Târgu Mureș is the Reformed Castle Church, which dates back to the 14th century; the St. John Baptist Church is a Baroque-style church with an interior that is extremely lavish, decorated with numerous works of art. The city’s earliest castle was built in 1492 and stands as a witness to history; the Old Town Hall was constructed between 1906 and 1907 and is the city’s most iconic building. The Cultural Palace, located in the city center, is the most outstanding architectural landmark in Târgu Mureș, featuring elegant interiors and housing the County Library, among others.
