Târgoviște

Târgoviște is located on the right bank of the Ialomița River in the historical region of Wallachia, in southern Romania, and serves as the capital of Dâmbovița County. It was first mentioned in historical documents in 1396. The city was once the capital of the Principality of Wallachia and is currently the 26th largest city in Romania.

Târgoviște boasts a wealth of museums, including the National Police Museum, the History Museum, the Printing and Book Museum, the Museum of Local Writers, the Art Museum, as well as residences of renowned authors. The city's most famous landmark is the Chindia Tower, part of a 15th-century fortress. Additionally, the Chindia Tower is also worth a visit. For history enthusiasts, the ruins of the Curtea Palace are an ideal destination. Although some buildings have collapsed, the remaining ruins still offer a glimpse of the former grandeur of the palace.
