Piešťany Spa Town

Piešťany is located in the warmest and sunniest southwest part of Slovakia, nestled in the Váh River Valley. It is a renowned European health resort, celebrated for its picturesque scenery and attracting numerous visitors with its famous therapeutic thermal baths and mud treatments.

This spa resort by the Váh River is a place covered with tall trees, small gardens, straight and wide gravel roads, and neatly arranged elegant buildings. Standing on a bridge with light blue wooden railings, you can gaze at the Váh River, where the sky’s densely packed clouds are reflected on the water’s surface. The riverbanks are lush with greenery, dotted with patches of purple wildflowers blooming in spring — a classic suburban landscape. Against the slightly overcast sky, the serene beauty is somewhat muted, taking on the rich chiaroscuro detail typical of Barbizon School paintings. The thermal waters here range from 67°C to 69°C, and each liter contains nearly 1500 mg of minerals, offering excellent therapeutic benefits. Ludwig van Beethoven once came here for treatment. The famous Queen Elizabeth, as well as the well-known Princess Sissi, were also frequent visitors. Today, you can still see a statue of Princess Sissi in this small spa town.
