Bratislava

Bratislava is located in the southwest of Slovakia, along the Danube River, bordering both Austria and Hungary. It is the only capital city in the world that borders two other countries. As the capital and largest city of the Slovak Republic, it serves as the political, economic, and cultural center of the country, and boasts numerous universities, museums, opera houses, art galleries, and other important cultural and educational institutions.

Bratislava consists of an old town and a new town. The Old Town is rich in historic landmarks and features many Baroque palaces, among which the most ancient and representative are Bratislava Castle and St. Martin's Cathedral — two of the city’s most iconic buildings. In the New Town, modern high-rise buildings stand in close succession, while a grand cable-stayed bridge spans the Danube River from north to south, creating a vibrant urban scene. Visitors can sit in a café and enjoy the picturesque Danube scenery, with the lush forests to the south giving way to the beautiful landscapes of Hungary and Austria.

Bratislava is also home to numerous museums and art galleries, including the Slovak National Museum, the Slovak National Gallery, and the City Gallery Bratislava, making it one of the best places to learn about Slovakia’s history, culture, traditions, and art.
