Herstmonceux Castle is located in East Sussex in southeastern England. It is a Tudor-style castle built from red bricks and is one of the oldest and most outstanding brick buildings in England, as bricks were an uncommon construction material in Britain at the time. The builders constructed it as a magnificent palace rather than a defensive castle.

From 1957 to 1988, it was home to the Royal Greenwich Observatory and is currently owned by Queen’s University Canada’s Bader International Study Centre.
