Step into the 3D World of Pixar: 30th Anniversary Special Exhibition Opens

Pixar Animation Studios has produced countless classic films that have brought joy to children and adults around the world. Now, to celebrate the studio’s upcoming 30th anniversary, Pixar is hosting a special anniversary exhibition in Tokyo from March 5 to May 29, 2016. The exhibition will feature over 500 animation sketches, as well as 3D animated works that allow fans to step into the world of animation—something truly worth looking forward to.

Since its establishment in 1986, Pixar Animation Studios has created numerous works, including “Toy Story,” “Monsters, Inc.,” and the recently released “The Good Dinosaur”—each leaving a deep impression. This exhibition displays over 500 pieces of animated artwork, including hand-painted pieces, sculptures, and pastel paintings, showcasing the creative processes behind classic works. Additionally, the exhibition features a specially made “Toy Story Zoetrope” for the world tour, which places three-dimensional figures of Woody and Buzz Lightyear on a spinning disc. As the disc rapidly rotates in the dark under projected light, the cartoon figures appear to come to life. Another highlight is “Artscape,” which uses digital technology to transform flat artwork into 3D animations projected onto screens. Fans of Pixar animations shouldn’t miss this either.
