Ipswich Transport Museum

Ipswich Transport Museum is located in the Ipswich area of Suffolk, England, and is primarily dedicated to collecting road vehicles that were used or manufactured locally. The museum’s collection began in 1965, and in 1988 it gained the use of its current building, an old tram depot. After being renovated and converted, it opened to the public in 1995.

The museum's collection includes over 85 trams, trolleybuses, and motor buses, most of which were produced by Ipswich Corporation Transport, Eastern Counties Omnibus Company, and other local vehicle manufacturers. These include commercial vehicles, fire engines, mobile cranes, bicycles, horse-drawn carriages, prams, and wheelchairs. The three major modes of local transport—rail, waterways, and aviation—are represented through photo collections and smaller exhibitions. Additionally, the museum houses an archive featuring various historical transport-related items such as uniforms and tickets.

Ipswich Transport Museum is a registered charity, typically open to visitors on Sundays from April to November, and on weekday afternoons during school holidays. The museum also regularly hosts various transport-themed events that attract a large number of visitors.
