Bull Tower

Bull Tower is located in Norwich, Norfolk, England, situated along the River Wensum. It is a historic military tower. The tower derives its name from its location, as it originally stood on a watery sandbank known as Bull Holme.

Bull Tower was built in the 14th century, but it was later severely damaged when rebel forces led by Robert Kett set up camp on the opposite bank of the river. Due to the current precarious state of the tower’s ruins, which pose significant safety risks, visitors are not allowed to enter and can only view it from the outside. The tower stands 15.2 meters tall, with an internal diameter of 7.3 meters and walls that are 1.8 meters thick. Constructed from brick, it features internal ventilation shafts and numerous loopholes that once allowed soldiers to monitor outside military activity. Today, this historic tower stands as a testament to the passage of time and the toll of history.
