Dragon Hall, Norwich is located in the city of Norwich, Norfolk, England, on King Street near the River Wensum. It is a medieval merchant’s trading hall and is now one of Norwich’s 12 historic heritage sites, as well as being listed as a Grade I building in the UK.

The building is grand and features elaborate dragon carvings on its interior beams, which is how it got its name “Dragon Hall.” It was built on a main road in Norwich during the 15th century and benefited from first-class road and river transport networks. Constructed around 1427–1430, its cellar is even older—archaeologists have found evidence of human habitation here dating back a thousand years. The hall was built by a merchant named Robert Toppes and served as the hub of his international trading empire.

Dragon Hall is unique—it once functioned as an exhibition and storage space, was later sold, and then became private residences and commercial premises. In the 1970s, Norwich City Council purchased this historic building as part of the city’s heritage assets. In 2006, it received £18,000 to aid in its restoration and development. Today, the hall has been returned to its original state and also features a new floor and heating system, a modern wing, a kitchen, and an elevator leading to the first-floor hall. It now serves as a heritage museum and venue for various community, cultural, and educational events such as weddings, parties, theatre and music performances, markets, and workshops.
