St Peter Mancroft

St Peter Mancroft is located in the city center of Norwich, the capital of Norfolk County, England. It is a parish church of the Church of England. The church was built between 1430 and 1455, making it the largest church in Norwich. It stands on slightly elevated land near the market center.

This is an impressive church structure, stretching 180 feet in length, with a tall tower rising at the western end. The church is a composite historic building, constructed atop Norman foundations dating back to 1075. It features a 1463 baptismal font, 1573 Flemish tapestries, medieval stained-glass windows, the memorial of its most famous parishioner Thomas Browne, and an 1896 lead-covered spire with flying buttresses. The west tower of St Peter Mancroft houses a ring of 14 white-chapel bells, eleven of which date from 1775 and three from 1997. Inside the church is a Baroque-style organ, one of the finest of its kind, capable of producing beautiful music. As such, in addition to being a spiritual place of worship, it also frequently hosts concerts.
