Queens' College

Introduction Queens' College is located to the south of King's College. The college was jointly funded by Queen Margaret, wife of Henry IV, in 1448, and Queen Woodville, wife of Edward IV, in 1465. Therefore, the "Queens'" in the college’s name refers to these two queens.

Queens' College straddles the River Cam and is connected by the world-famous "Mathematical Bridge." The Queen’s Garden on the western bank of the Cam is filled with blooming flowers and lush greenery, making it one of the most beautiful sights in Cambridge. Other major attractions within Queens' College include: the Tudor-style courtyard represented by the mid-16th century wooden cloisters, the Erasmus Tower built in the 15th century, and the Old Hall. Transport Located at the intersection of Silver St and Queen's Lane, near the start of the Cam River punting route at Mill Pier. Visitors can only enter Queens' College through the Visitors' Gate on Queen's Lane, and not directly through the main gate on Silver St. Tickets/Opening Hours Free from November to March each year; otherwise, the fee is £1.5 (includes a Queens' College guidebook). Free for local residents and University of Cambridge students.

Opening Hours: 11:00-15:00 from March 18 to May 22; closed from May 23 to June 25 (exam period); 10:00-16:30 from June 26 to October 2; October 3 to October 30: Monday to Friday 13:45-16:30, Saturday and Sunday 10:00-16:30; October 31 to March 17: 13:45-16:30 (free).
