Welford Road Stadium

Welford Road Stadium is located in Leicester, England, on the edge of Leicester city center, between Aylestone Road and Welford Road. It is a rugby union stadium and the home ground of the Leicester Tigers. The stadium has a capacity of 24,000, making it the largest stadium built by an English rugby club.

Leicester Tigers moved to Welford Road Stadium in 1892. Initially, there was only a basic stand that could accommodate 1,100 spectators. Today, Welford Road Stadium has developed into a stadium with three stands. The newest, the third stand named the “Alliance & Leicester Stand,” was built and put into use in 1995; in comparison, the other two stands appear slightly older but still fail to dampen the enthusiasm of passionate fans coming to watch matches.

Since its construction, Welford Road Stadium has hosted numerous local and international events, including not only rugby matches but also football games, as well as energetic concerts. For example, on July 15, 2010, the famous British pop singer James Morrison held a concert here.
