Victoria Square is one of Birmingham’s most important public spaces. On January 10, 1901, it was renamed Victoria Square in memory of the late Queen and a statue of Queen Victoria was added. The square is surrounded by magnificent buildings that reflect Birmingham's rich history, including the Renaissance-style Council House and the Council Chamber modeled after a Greek temple. Children particularly enjoy the fountain, often playing in the water with their friends.
