The Jewellery Quarter Museum is located in Birmingham and is a community museum that serves as a branch of the Birmingham Museums Trust. In 2008, it was ranked by TripAdvisor as the third-best free tourist attraction in Europe, following Rome’s Pantheon and the National Gallery in the UK.

From 1899 to 1981, the Jewellery Quarter Museum was the site of the Smith and Pepper jewellery factory. After more than 80 years in operation, the factory’s owners closed the business and left without any demolition, leaving the site completely intact. In 1993, it opened to the public as the Jewellery Quarter Museum. The museum tells the story of over 200 years of history in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter, showcasing the long tradition of jewellery trade and manufacturing in the city. One of the most exciting experiences for visitors is getting to explore a real jewellery workshop, learn about its operations, study the history of jewellery making, observe jewellers and craftsmen at work, and even create your own piece of jewellery.

The Jewellery Quarter Museum also features several exhibition rooms, a courtyard tea room, and a gift shop selling beautifully designed jewellery pieces by designers.
