Gloucester Everyman Theatre

The Gloucester Everyman Theatre, commonly known as the Everyman Theatre, is located on Regent Street in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, UK, and is the most well-known theatre in the area. The theatre has two stages: a main stage that can accommodate 658 people and a Richardson Studio that seats 60.

Formerly known as the Opera House, the Gloucester Everyman Theatre was designated as a Grade II listed building in 1891. It was opened by British music hall singer and stage performer Lily Langtry. After World War II until 1960, it was operated by the Cheltenham Corporation, during which time it gradually evolved into a community theatre and was renamed the "Everyman" Theatre. Later, the theatre closed in 1983–1986 for renovations and reopened after a complete overhaul. In early May 2011, around £3 million was invested to create a modern new theatre, which officially opened in mid-September 2011. The newly renovated Gloucester Everyman Theatre features new seating, paintwork, ceilings, and decorative arts, presenting a more contemporary theatre atmosphere.
