Kingsholm Stadium

Kingsholm Stadium is located in Gloucester, England, and is a well-known rugby union stadium that serves as the home ground of Gloucester Rugby. With a seating capacity of 16,500, it is a relatively large stadium. Locals sometimes affectionately refer to it by its nickname "Grim Castle," partly because of the name of the estate on which the stadium sits, and partly due to the much-praised family-oriented atmosphere associated with Gloucester.

Before England's rugby home games were moved to Twickenham Stadium, Kingsholm Stadium used to be their home ground. The most famous match held here was during the 1991 Rugby World Cup, when New Zealand played against the United States — an intense game that drew tens of thousands of fans. It is also expected to host matches during the 2015 Rugby World Cup. Like other professional rugby union club stadiums in the UK, Kingsholm has terraced stands. The main stand is located along the southern boundary, densely packed with around 4,500 seats; the stand to its left is a fan favorite, where supporters cheer, wave flags of the home team, wear jerseys of their favorite players, and celebrate victories.
