The lavender garden in Snowshill is one of the village’s major attractions. Lauded by Chinese netizens as one of the top ten best proposal spots in the world in 2012, it is also the largest lavender plantation in the UK. Though it may not be as famous as France’s Provence, its lavender varieties are considered among the best in the world. From afar, as you catch sight of the vast purple expanse, the faint fragrance of lavender greets you. Under the bright sun, the endless purple fields are dreamlike and utterly enchanting.

Also worth mentioning is Snowshill Manor, the former residence of the renowned British collector and mysterious Sir Charles Wade. The manor is built in the classic Cotswold architectural style and is situated within a picturesque garden atop a hill. It is said that during snowfall, the roof of the manor is always the first to be blanketed in white. During his lifetime, Sir Wade donated his entire collection—astonishing in both quantity and variety—as well as the entire manor to the National Trust, offering today’s visitors a glimpse of Britain’s once-global influence during the height of the British Empire. His donation has also contributed to the preservation of traditional British crafts.
