When the Romans occupied Britain, the town of Moreton-in-Marsh was one of the main staging posts on the Fosse Way, a north-south route, and boasts a history of around 1,700 years. It remains a major market hub in the Cotswolds region to this day. Since 1227, the town has upheld its Tuesday market tradition for hundreds of years, drawing both international visitors and locals alike.

Located at the northern edge of the Cotswolds, the town of Moreton-in-Marsh flourished due to its position along the Roman Fosse Way. The road runs through the town’s main street and Old London, leading to the historic coaching route — the Worcester Road. The old Market House bell tower is the town’s iconic landmark, still housing its original clock and bells dating back to 1633. The town is well known for its numerous antique shops, as well as its quaint restaurants and countryside pubs, making it a great spot to enjoy a traditional English afternoon tea.
