Gloucester

Gloucester is located on the eastern bank of the River Severn, about 51 km northeast of Bristol and 72 km southwest of Birmingham. It is the largest city and county town of Gloucestershire in the southwest of England. Additionally, it is a port city that connects the Sharpness Canal with the mouth of the River Severn.

The sacred and majestic Gloucester Cathedral is the most prominent building in the area. It was expanded in 681 AD on the site of a monastery originally built for Saint Peter and has been a place of pilgrimage for over 1,300 years. It is the burial site of King Edward II of England and was used as a filming location for the Harry Potter film series in both 2002 and 2008. Other notable sites worth visiting include the Gloucester City Museum & Art Gallery, St. Mary de Lode Church, St. Nicholas Church, St. Oswald’s Priory, the exquisite Robert Raikes House, the historic Gloucester Docks showcasing its former glory, the old warehouse buildings, Dean Forest, and the Gloucester Farmers' Market.
