Notodden is a town in southern Norway, governed by Telemark County, located 120 kilometers from the capital Oslo. The city is the hometown of several notable Norwegians, including Norwegian organist Kåre Nordstoga, short story writer Hans Aanrud, and Hardanger fiddle maker Olav Aasen, among others.

The most famous landmark in Notodden is the Heddal Stave Church, the largest stave church in Norway. It is a masterpiece of medieval architecture, built in the early 13th century, with ancient Germanic runes carved on the outer passage walls, indicating that the church was built in honor of the Virgin Mary. The Notodden Blues Festival is the town’s biggest annual event and the largest music festival in Scandinavia, attracting thousands of music enthusiasts every year.
