Hof Church

Introduction The church was originally built in the Romanesque style in 735. By the 14th century, it had been rebuilt in the Gothic style. A major fire in the 17th century severely damaged the church, and during its subsequent reconstruction, it was redesigned in the Renaissance style. Standing with your back to the church and looking forward, the Chapel Bridge stretches straight toward it, connecting to the high stone stairway in front of the church, almost like a sacred pathway leading to the church.

The interior of the church is also exceptionally solemn and majestic, with finely detailed carvings on the pews. Also noteworthy is the church’s organ, manufactured in 1640, which has 4,950 pipes and is still used at Lucerne’s Summer Music Festival to this day. Transport After exiting the train station, cross the bridge and walk along the main road for about 10 minutes to see it. Alternatively, take tram line 24 and get off at Haldenstrasse.
