Introduction   The picturesque mountain town of Engelberg is a winter ski resort in Switzerland, and home to Mount Titlis, the highest peak in central Switzerland. Though Mount Titlis stands at 10,000 feet above sea level, getting there is not difficult — it takes just 45 minutes to reach the summit by taking three cable car segments. The design of the Mount Titlis aerial cable car is quite unique — the last segment is a 360° rotating cable car offering extremely wide views, a world first.

The summit of Mount Titlis is covered in snow year-round and is home to ancient glaciers. Upon arriving at the mountaintop cable car station, visitors can enter an ice cave to touch pristine ice layers and gaze out through its south-facing window onto beautiful landscapes; they can ride the “Glacier Flyer” chairlift to soar over glacier crevasses; go for a glacier walk; or head to the Glacier Park for some snow play, where eight types of free snow toys guarantee fun for all. The summit features multiple restaurants, an ice cream stand, souvenir shops, a photo studio offering ethnic and classic costumes, as well as Europe’s only mountaintop professional watch boutique. Be sure to try the summit’s panoramic restaurant — dining surrounded by snow-capped mountains is an absolute must. As the Mount Titlis slogan goes, “An ice adventure for all seasons,” the snow mountain attracts visitors from around the world year-round.

Tip: Temperatures at the summit are low, and visitors can rent cold-weather clothing and anti-slip boots at the valley or summit cable car stations. It's recommended to wear sunglasses when ascending, as prolonged exposure to snow can cause snow blindness.   Transportation   It takes about 1 hour to reach Engelberg from Lucerne by taking the Lucerne-Stans-Engelberg train. To get to Mount Titlis from Engelberg, take three cable car segments: Engelberg (1,000m) – Trubsee (1,800m) – Stand (2,450m) – Mount Titlis (3,020m), with the entire journey to the summit taking around 45 minutes.
