The Vasa Shipwreck Museum (Vasa Museum) is a maritime museum in Stockholm, Sweden. Located on Djurgården Island, the museum primarily displays the 17th-century shipwreck "Vasa." The Vasa was a 64-cannon warship that sank during its maiden voyage in 1628. The Vasa Shipwreck Museum opened in 1990 and, according to its official website, is one of the most visited museums in Scandinavia over the years.

This was a warship with five decks and 64 cannons. Beneath the first bowsprit crouched a massive golden lion statue, and the ship’s sternpost was as tall as six ordinary buildings, divided into over 50 layers and intricately carved with more than 700 sculptures—comparable in splendor to the royal palaces of Sweden. These painted or gilded sculptures included valiant knights in armor, graceful mermaids, Roman soldiers wielding swords, various mythological figures, an array of coats of arms and biblical scenes from Christianity, as well as nude figures symbolizing beauty and purity. At the very top were two golden lions on the Swedish royal coat of arms, highlighted in gold leaf. From afar, the entire ensemble appeared magnificent and resplendent, blending grandeur with opulence—it was truly a once-glorious warship.

In the exhibition rooms beside the ship, artifacts salvaged from the wreck of the original "Vasa" are displayed, including sails, cannons, human skeletons, sailors' uniforms, tools, gold coins, and even butter and rum (a type of sweet liqueur). The Vasa warship is not only the oldest and most well-preserved ship ever salvaged in the world but also a vast artistic treasure trove. The elaborate decorations aboard reflect the Baroque art style popular in Sweden under the influence of the late Renaissance in the 17th century.
